FYI

Heading back up into the Smokes in the AM. There’s no signal up there (except for the occasional text), so I’ll probably be radio silent for the next weekish.

See you soon! 🙂

Hey Karma, I’m so happy I got to meet you, also sorry to freak you out. We really are fairly nornal people, we just happen to really love hikers. I sure pray Spring bursts forth for you soon and it makes up for the ice and snow. We’ll be following along, at a safe distance. Happy trails….signed, your biggest fan. Wink.

Stay strong my friend. Lots of prayers and cheering for you back home!!!

  7. How’s it going, Karma! It’s been 3 days…not quite a week. Still, I wanted to check in on you. I hope all is well.

On a side note, one of my favorite memories of moving to Boston from California was the point in the drive when we got lost in the Smoky Mountains. Finally, we found our way toward a main road, but before we figured out where we were, we found this little diner that was literally in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it. The place looked frozen in time….around 1956 or so. There were a bunch of cars in the lot that were modern, so no worries that we time warped. The food was amazing. The service was great. It was a special moment that kept us from losing our minds as we tried to figure out how the heck to get out of the Smokies. 🙂 I imagine that it takes a little longer to figure that out when you’re on hamburger feet.

I wish you many happy miles. I hope your journey goes well and you can throw that damned ring into Mount Doom’s lava pit soon. Ummmm… I mean set the stone you’re carrying at the end of the trail in Maine. 🙂

I do kind of picture you as Frodo, Sam and Gollum all crammed into the same human being as you march your way north. Yes. I did watch Lord of the Rings just before you started your journey. Can you tell? LOL.

Thinking of you as I sit with my feet in a mini whirlpool bath of warm bubbly water not feeling even a teeny bit guilty. Hey Karma, the shelters remind me of the soldier’s huts in Valley Forge only bigger. Keep on truckin’ lass, love Catherine
